904L stainless steel flanges are manufactured using a high alloy content, mostly in the form of 23-28% chromium, 4.5-5.5% nickel, 1-2% molybdenum, and trace amounts of copper. The composition makes them more resistant to corrosion, especially in harsh environments such as acidic or chloride-containing conditions. Mechanical properties are high tensile strength, good ductility, and resistance to stress corrosion cracking. 904L flanges are best suited for applications such as chemical processing, petrochemical, and marine, with excellent durability, pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride stress cracking resistance, and better weldability.
